The Potting Shed

It looks like The Grounds of Alexandria has been growing; both literally & figuratively. One of the newest additions to their already beautiful space (Check out photos of their roaster and cafe, here.) is The Potting Shed. This patio addition does a great job blending into the grounds and creates a welcoming retreat.

As the name implies, The Potting Shed was designed to resemble just that. Warm shades of green, mismatched patio chairs, and potting tables all help tie the theme together and give you the impression you truly are enjoying your beverage in their garden.


We love the shed itself, with it's operable windows opening up to become the bar and custom draft tower. The brick backdrop and tractor stools add one more layer of warmth to this local watering hole.

Homer Street Cafe

Name:  Homer Street Cafe
Location:Vancouver, Canada

Hitting a perfect balance between transitional and industrial, Home Street Cafe creates an inviting and warm space with just enough punch to keep it on trend.





I love the amount of detail work that can be found though out the space. While some details don't fit in perfectly, they all help balance the pristine white adding to the layers of the space and ultimately creating warmth and wit. 


Damson & Co

Name: Damson & Co
Location: London
Design: Central Design Studio


Damson & Co has done a great job layering multiple styles together to create a warm and classic space. 
Industrial and classic touches add depth and visual interest to the otherwise utilitarian interior.




The millwork details located at the bar are one of my favorite parts of this space. They are traditional in most aspects but make a slight nod towards industrial. Paired with the custom light fixtures at the bar top you get a space that feels familiar but on trend. 


The tile detail located at the foot of the bar adds definition to the space while remaining simple and clean lined, much like the remainder of the utilitarian interior.

The East Pole

Name: The East Pole
Location: New York, NY
Design: Phil Winser

Intimate and warm, the interior of The East Pole is both industrial and nautical in a way that is neither themed or blatantly apparent. 




The low ceilings add to the intimate nature of the space giving it an almost vessel-like feeling that works well with the nautical touches. 




Using walnut, marble and black iron gives the space a classic feel allowing it to be polished with subtle industrial and nautical notes.

Oyster House

Name: Oyster House
Location: Philadelphia, PA

,
Oyster House, located in Philadelphia, is a great example of a small space that doesn't sacrifice on style.
Blending nautical, traditional, and industrial design components they have created a balanced and inviting local spot.

I love that the oyster bar is on full display and allows for enough room to properly display the beautiful catch, and craft of preparation.


The classic white subway tile creates a texture to the walls that contrasts the rich table and Thonet-style barstools.


The industrial pendants and light fixtures are balanced by the intricate moldings and traditional furnishings.

Bent

Name: Bent
Location: Toronto

Located in Toronto, Bent is the perfect mix of whimsy and traditional.




Using traditional materials like subway tiles with dark grout, shaker style benches, and molded plywood chairs creates a great base to which they added a touch of the unexpected. 


The colorful stripes on the tables, gilded bronze pendants, and custom industrial stools all add a sense of 'we don't take ourselves too seriously' while still coming together to create a cohesive and thoughtful design.
