Host

Name: Host
Location: Copenhagen
Design: Norm Architects

The warmth exuded from the raw space of Host, located in Copenhagen, is enough to win anyone over.

The simple, well crafted material and details throughout this space proves that minimal doesn't mean empty.

The warn wood tables, hand crafter pottery and table ware and raw walls all give the space a sense of clarity while also delivering the rustic element that balances out the space.

Painted white brick walls and collections of vintage bread boards creates a visual break on the wall and compliments the rustic and raw nature of the space.

Faviken

Name: Faviken
Location: Järpen, Sweden

In a rural town in Sweden sits one of the top restaurants in the world. With only twelve seats in the restaurant, you are guaranteed an intimate experience.

Faviken takes local cuisine and ingredients to a higher level by growing and raising all of their own food. In the winter, they use food from their root seller and dried, cured meats.

With rough beams, worn wood floors and walls, and herbs drying on the walls, the interior of Faviken allows function to come first. Using quality materials that that age well intrinsically adds warmth and allows the space to envelope the diners. This happens while still maintaining its connection with the natural beauty that surrounds it.

Cafe Foam

Name: Cafe Foam
Location: Stockholm
Design: Note

I love a good pop of pink as much as the next girl, but it has to be done correctly. The wrong tone or shade and the wrong application can completely ruin any good pink intention.
Cafe foam, located in Stockholm, created a cafe with vibrant pink splashed through. It's just enough to create a punch and some visual interest while allowing the blonde wood and scandinavian vibe to be aptly apparent. What do you think, too much?

Lagkagehuset 'The Cake House'

Name: Lagkagehuset
Location: Copenhagen

Lagkagehuset, which roughly translates to 'The Cake House', is a great example of a minimalist and modern interior utilizing high quality, rich materials. The end result is a space that is both warm and bright, feels comfortable and yet completely chic all at once. This bakery focuses on handmade breads, pastries, and coffee and the interior supports and showcases these products.

B.A.R.

Name: B.A.R.
Location: Stockholm, Sweden

B.A.R. (Blasieholmens Akvarium Restaurang) is an approachable and timeless restaurant located in the heart of Stockholm. With a goal of serving 'uncomplicated, delicious fresh food' they have also managed to create a space fitting of the beautiful food being put out. With classic scandinavian details; neutral and bright color palate, natural materials, and simple yet beautiful displays and execution, B.A.R has given us a space that is bright, airy and yet approachable and comfortable. The almost handcrafted aesthetic to the space drives home the simple, handcrafted nature of the food which creates a perfect marriage of interior and food. This symbiotic relationship is what I believe to be necessary for a successful restaurant.
