Lokaal

Name: Lokaal
Location: Rotterdam, Netherland
Design: Weaponofchoice

Located under an old rail line, the goal was to create an interior reminiscent of the canteens of classic rail stations throughout Europe. Using a minimalist and quality material palate, they were able to create a structured and refined cafe space.

Keeping the interior minimal with a focus on high quality materials, the space feels timeless and inviting.

Creating branding and printed goods to correlate with the interior keep the message strong and allow for cohesion within the space.

I love that they were able to create subtle pattern and texture by using the inherent properties of their materials. It allows the space to feel cohesive while keeping visual interest.

Lady M Confections

Name: Lady M Confections
Location: New York, NY
Design: Sam Trimble

Lady M Confections signature space treats their cakes and pastures, very appropriately, as the star of the show.
With clean lines, a neural color palate and minimalist details, all eyes are directed towards the 20+ foot refrigerated display case where the colors and textures of the beautiful pastries is on full display.

Using clean and simple sneeze guards paired with the open leg base and stone front, there is very little to distract the eye and treats the items within as jewelry on display for passing admirers.

Kook Restaurant & Pizzeria

Name: Kook Restaurant & pizzeria
Location: Rome
Design: Noses Architects

Upon first look at Kook, you'd have a difficult time determining if the space was a restaurant or just a great home.

Using concrete, steel and glass as the main design materials the space has an urban, industrial feel which is surprising for the classic space it is housed in.

Using wood and reclaimed pieces, the added warmth into the space and balanced the raw materials.

One of my favorite features in the space is their use of traditional concrete tiles as both backslashes and flooring to break up the space, add warmth and pattern and add a small splash of color.
