St. Cecilia

Name: St. Cecilia
Location: Atlanta, GA
Design: Meyer Davis Studio

Located in Atlanta, St. Cecilia is a beautiful blend of traditional and contemporary. The layering of materials and attention to detail throughout help keep this large space grounded and comfortable.

We love all of the small details that Meyer Davis infused into the interior. Every area is thought through and considered.

Given the large scale of the space, using semi-circle booths to dot the space, helps create movement and a more intimate environment. This is a solution that commonly cannot be used within smaller scale spaces simply due to the room required for guest to enter and exit the booths but works extremely well in this application.

Abattoir

Name: Abattoir
Location: Atlanta, GA
Design: Unknown

With a name French for 'slaughterhouse', Abattoir did a great job providing an interior that contrasts it's name while simultaneously providing nods to the spaces meat packing past.

Warm and industrial, the interior kept it's existing brick structure relatively intact, hiding it only by a neutral coat of paint. Within the space, the bar is defined by worn wood partitions, curtains, and colorful barstools.

The relatively raw main dining space beckons back to its meat packing days while it's neutral and industrial palate to allow the space to firmly establish itself in the present.

King + Duke

Name: King + Duke
Location: Atlanta, GA
Design: Meyer Davis Studio

Recently opened in Atlanta, King + Duke is the the fourth restaurant in Ford Fry's restaurant family. Playing off of the novel 'Adventures of Huckleberry Finn' the restaurant is deceptively casual and relaxed and features early American cooking techniques and rustic cuisine.

Throughout the space a mix of rustic and refined materials work together to create a curated and timeworn interior.

The large circular booths and light wood add contemporary elements while the leather accents and wood paneled walls bring in a rustic element to balance it out.

The Sound Table

Name: The Sound Table
Location: Atlanta, GA

The Sound Table merges music, food, and cocktails into a modern package filled with local artists.

Using locally sourced Ambrosia Maple along with reclaimed timbers and locally crafted lighting, the space feels local, modern and clean.

The slat benches located throughout the space contact the exposed brick walls and add a touch of scandinavian simplicity and lightness.

West Egg Cafe

Name: West Egg Cafe
Location: Atlanta, GA
Design: Square Feet Studio

What catches my eye about West Egg Cafe, located in the heart of Atlanta, is it's simplicity and authenticity. In design, simplicity always seems like it would be the easiest element to achieve when in reality, it's one of the hardest. Keeping a minimal palate and limited materials drives you to analyze each components location, use, and function in the larger picture. Creating a space that is functional, efficient, and cohesive while avoiding the sparse, under-developed feeling traditionally associated with simplicity and minimalism, is a true test. West Egg Cafe accomplished this simplicity and still managed to create a visually interesting, functional, and inviting space.

Barcelona Atlanta

Name: Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant
Location: Atlanta, GA
Designer: Square Feet Studio

Barcelona, located in Atlanta is easily one of my favorite  examples of modern and rustic mixed. With floor to ceiling wood-clad walls, graphic artwork, industrial fixtures and metal details, you simply cannot go wrong. Sticking to a minimal color palate of browns, blacks and whites allows for the space to feel harmonious and allows the materials to shine. I can't wait to make a stop in the next time i'm in Atlanta.

What we love:
1. It is located on what used to be stock yards. It makes me want to start up a project in Chicago's old stockyards. There is just so much history pouring out of locations like these, you have to embrace it.
2. They make their own ice cream sandwiches. The space itself is beautiful but pair that with homemade ice cream sandwiches and you really can't be beat.

We love the industrial farmhouse feel. There is a beautiful combination of tradition cabinets, concrete floors, industrial pendants and vintage finds that creates an open, warm and inviting space.
